Hearts & Flowers of Hope

Our mission is...

Inspiring, Renewing, and Nurturing Hope

In Women Who Have Lost It

Hope deferred makes a heart sick but a desire fulfilled is a tree of life.

Proverbs 13:12

We love Jesus.

We love to encourage women.

We especially love it when women who are struggling to find hope, discover it at the perfect moment.

The Christian Woman’s Page is where those passions collide.
The Internet was very different when two friends began publishing an online magazine in 1998. In what seems like distant eons ago, there weren’t many websites for women who tried to live their lives for Christ. The CWP founders saw a need and filled it the best way they could.

Even though the founders, Janel Guevara and Elizabeth Fabiani, were 20something ladies lacking spiritual maturity, God used them. During the early years of publication, the CWP saw hundreds of thousands of visitors each year—which was an astronomical amount of traffic for the internet at that time. For several years, The Christian Woman’s Page even occupied the number one Google search result for “Christian woman inspiration.” Emails, comments, and linking continue almost thirty years later, despite a publishing gap.

Women still let us know how something they read here came at just the right time to encourage them in a personal struggle. God really can do anything. We love that!

Today, the web is brimming with thousands of sites dedicated to helping every type of woman live a better life. The CWP still has a voice and a mission among the others. We’re happy to re-join the conversation, proclaiming that life may be messy, but God is bigger.

While things change, some things remain the same: we continue to provide encouragement for women who struggle to hope. Twenty-eight years later, we still see God at work. Our faith grows and matures because the challenges we faced allow us to see God work in our darkest hours.

We're far from perfect. But we understand that grace is our friend, God’s love sustains us, and His love and grace are there in abundance for you, too. And that's a reason to hope.

Meet the Women Behind the CWP

Co-founders Timeline
Co-Founders: Janel Guevara and Elizabeth Fabiani
Janel Guevara is the co-founder, publisher & editor-in-chief of The Christian Woman’s Page.

With more than 25 years of experience as an author, adult educator, and transformational coach, Janel loves working with the power of words to inspire change by helping women reclaim their voice and rewrite the stories that shaped their lives.

Married to a mischievous man with the kindest heart, together they have 7 children, a handful of adorable grandkids, and a house filled with cats and books. She lives in the beautiful Pacific Northwest where moss-covered trees and waterfall trails feel kissed by God.

Elizabeth Fabiani is the co-founder & a regular contributor to The Christian Woman’s Page.

The CWP was created because Elizabeth began writing about her experiences as a single Christian woman in the late 1990s. Almost 30 years later, Liz is still on a messy journey towards life's great unknowns. No doubt, God has more lessons for her to share.

A mom of two, she enjoys time in the garden, fresh peaches and summer fruit, a good period drama, and her connection to family and friends. Through it all, she continues to believe that hope, wonder, and glory abound when you know where to look.

Ariana Guevara
Art Director and Assistant to the EiC

Ariana decided she wanted to follow in her mom's footsteps and become an author at the ripe old age of nine. The year she turned twelve, she added artist to her list of goals. She didn't know how to do either, but spent the last decade figuring it out.

Collector of hobbies and devourer of books, Ariana uses her creative abilities to add whimsy to the most mundane aspects of life. An avid baker and gardener, she's happiest sitting among the trees with her sketchbook, drawing wildflowers and bees, or random cows that happen to wander through the yard.

The illustrations at the CWP were sketched with care by Ariana.

Mary O'Neil
Shepherdess of Editorial Chaos, Bookkeeping Support & Occasional Contributor

Mary unexpectedly became a widow in her fifties. After raising five children together, she lost her husband during the original two-week pandemic lockdown in 2020. She got a crash course on navigating grief as the world moved in slow motion.

Mary lives in the Midwest where the air hurts your face 10 8ish months out of the year and mosquitoes carry you off the rest of the time. She loves being a grandmother to two boys, enjoys swimming, quilting, and traveling to new places. She's also really good with numbers.

We Believe Ὧ

  • We believe that God, with His generous love, limitless power, and eternal presence, is too vast to define.
  • We believe He is affectionate, personal, and seeks an authentic relationship with each of us.
  • We believe that Jesus Christ came into the world with a mission, died on The Cross, and rose from the dead. Defining what His life and death mean to us, personally, is the act of working out our salvation with fear and trembling to make sure we understand by Grace, through Faith.
  • We believe the Holy Spirit shows up at the right moments to strengthen us and reveal truth.
  • We believe each of us should be living examples of Christ’s love, that we may transform the world with it.
  • We believe the Bible was given for wisdom and encouragement—a love letter that leads to the mysteries of Heaven.
  • We believe that God has given each of us gifts to edify, strengthen, and encourage others.
  • We feel each believer needs to use those gifts in an area they are passionate, as they are able, during each season of life.
  • We believe that every woman should follow as God leads, no matter where the road takes her, or who objects.
  • We believe that deceitful men have crept in and claimed authority from God that was never theirs. Instead of loving others so the world would know Christ and allowing their conversation to be grace seasoned with salt, they twisted His words and harmed the most vulnerable among us.

Our deepest desire is to encourage women to live passionately and abundantly with faith. Life may be messy, but God is bigger. When we lean into the shelter of the Most High, we will eventually find rest in the shadow of the Almighty (Psalm 91). He leads us through the Valley of the Shadow of Death (Psalm 23) so we have no reason to fear.
