The August 2026 Prayer

Our Monthly Prayer

Dear God,

You told me in the Psalms that I am “fearfully and wonderfully made.” That you knit me together in my mother’s womb and knew me before creation. There are days now that I struggle to believe You ever saw me as a special treasure.

It’s been a long season of pain and disappointment. I’m tired and confused. My heart is heavy.

Your promises seem hollow because I’ve been waiting for answers so long that I don’t remember the questions anymore. The joyous days of Your knitting my life seem miles away. I can’t help but wonder if You changed Your mind.

Sure, I remember the stories of Hannah, Sarah, Rachel, Rebekah, and Elizabeth and how they waited decades to see Your promises fulfilled. Sarah laughed, then You delivered a son. Hannah too. Even Elizabeth faced a lifetime of barrenness before the birth of John the Baptist. I understand waiting for the promise is difficult.

My faith in You has held me in some of the most difficult times. But right now, my life feels barren in very different ways. There’s an emptiness that doesn’t seem like it should be there. Is it me? If it is, show me what I’m missing Lord! But right now, I’m wondering how to believe. Because no angel ever promise me good tidings of great joy.

Lord, open my eyes to the wonders I’m missing. Give me enough grace to survive my doubts. And please, get me into the center of Your will so I can take a deep breath and know whatever I pursue is Your will for me. And I wouldn't be upset if Your answer arrived before I say…

Amen.
