As we begin this next season of our publishing journey and are short on content, we will be sharing Verse of the Day devotions until we have enough article submissions to fill our editorial calendar. We hope you enjoy them! ~ Janel the CWP Editor-in-Chief
“Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding...”
— Proverbs 3:5 NIV
This verse is usually offered as though it means stop thinking and just obey. But that isn't wisdom. Far from it.
Trusting God isn't shutting off our reason, tossing out our intuition, or following blindly. It means taking a deep breath, looking at the options before us, and believing God will show us the path that will be best. It's also acknowledging that none of us can see the entire picture or be 100% certain of every decision, even when we allow God to point in a specific direction.
It's ok to research. Ask questions. Seek wise counsel. Pay attention. And still admit there is more to every situation than we know. This process only makes us stumble when we let our fears and doubt overwhelm what we know is true.
Wanting to be sure a choice is God's will for us isn't weakness. It's faith. Waiting on God and knowing every decision is filled with curves, detours, and unexpected challenges, but going anyhow, is what Proverbs is talking about.
