Let's pray
Dear God
I've started prayers a thousand times
More than that
But this one seems different
Because today, Lord, you know I'm sitting down here for the first time
To pray with all the magazine readers
To offer them hope.
To offer them hope
And a connection that You
are the author of Hope
Lord, I thank You for Your presence today
I thank You for the vision that you gave Liz and I almost 30 years ago
I thank You for your faithfulness
I thank You that even when
opportunities and doors closed and were taken away
That You were still there and You had a plan
And that 17, 18 years later, whatever it is
That You're like, no
There is another season of the Christian Woman's Page
There's a whole new generation of women
Who need hope
And Lord, I thank You that You kept the vision alive and the dream alive and the love alive and the passion alive even when I was buried and felt like there was no hope at all in my life
But You knew
There are women out there who share my story, who share Liz's story
Who shares stories with our authors
And Lord, those women, those women need hope too
And Lord, I want to pray for those women right now
Lord
You know the woman who's excited to begin life
A new marriage, a new baby
The fears, the excitement
The uncertainties, but Lord, You are there
Larger with the women
Who have been longing to be married
and art
And they wait
And they wait
Some of them have given up hope of finding a godly companion
A good man
Good partner to stand with them
Lord, we see those women too and You see those women
Lord, we also know the women that have been married long and have seen
And You've called them to be mentors.
and grandmothers
And they're out there inspiring the younger women
But Lord, we can't forget about
The women who have been married a really long time and are really struggling in their marriage because it is
Not what You would want for them. And not because they chose wrong
But because things didn't go according to plan and they are drowning
And confusion and frustration and pain and anguish watching
Their marriage spiral out of control or their children spiral out of control because
of the problems in their relationship
Lord, we pray for the women who have lost their husbands
Lord, they're widowed, and they're alone and they miss that companionship
and their other person
Lord, You see all of us
You know our hearts
You know them our hearts of the young mothers
of the mothers who are neck deep in preschool and elementary years running and rushing
And the crazy change that comes in junior high
Oh, in senior high and
I would never have believed it when my babies were little, but Lord, parenting adults is really hard, and You see that too
But Lord, You also see the women who desperately, desperately long to be mothers
And have empty arms
Lord You're there for them too
Lord, I pray that You meet with each of us
Meet us where we are
Remind us today
Whether it be a verse, a meme, a song, a passing comment overheard at the grocery store
Lord, inspire us
And remind us that You are here for us now
In this moment
At this time
For such a time as this
Lord, I thank you that you
Oh, that You keep your promises, even if those promises
take decades to fulfill
That at some point
Sometime
Whether now or on the other side, we understand
What we were battling
Because our battles just aren't about ourselves
There's
Spirits
And plans and workings
That are all in motion
And Lord, I pray that You comfort our hearts
And show us
What we need to know
To take the next step
Our next step in our journey of faith
to you
To find hope
Because Lord, You know that I know
How hope deferred makes a heart sick
And Lord, for those women who are in that spiraling sick
I pray that You give them a special grace today
sends angels to minister to them
Send a kind word
A rainbow, a rose, a ladybug
Something.
Only they will know
That You mean
As a kiss for them
To show them and shower them with your love
And Your hope Lord
Thank you for this opportunity, for this next season
And I ask for your blessings for each of these women
For every one of our readers
And especially for the editorial team of the magazine as we
push forward with this big dream that You've had for us that we feel woefully inadequate
to work with
And to produce. But Lord
We know that we can hope
And we know that You'll show us what we need to know.
I thank you, and I praise you in Jesus' name
